Our fifth and final race in our series saw our runners leaping through the former MacArthur Island golf course like the deer who occupy the area. I'm certain there was a deer or two admiring the form of the runners as they sprang over the LOG OBSTRUCTION our very own, WAYNE RICHARDSON, insisted be on the course. In case you were curious about that log border, let the mystery to one of life's riddles be solved: it was Wayne's idea. After the race, many runners completed their three race quest and received their race series shirt, generously sponsored by Runner's Sole. A hearty thanks to Wayne and crew at Runner's Sole for yet another great series! Bravo! (Is it too early to call for an encore? Next year?) Runners raced 3 laps at 1.5 km a lap. Ashcroft, Clearwater, and Kamloops runners passed a number of snowy capped hills and mountains to arrive at our sister city, Merritt, to race around Central Park this afternoon. The sun was sparkling and the air was crisp as our runners ran the 1.3 km loop; and were they ever swift! Some of our quickest ran the first lap in just over 5 minutes! WOW! The wind was blowing on the Sa-Hali plateau today, while our racers - all 95 of them! - raced around the field and bluff. We had 6 elementary runners join in today: who raced 2 kms (one elementary girl ran as a junior and WON overall Junior Female!), while Juniors ran 4 kms, and Seniors raced 5 kms. Each loop was 1 km. Well done racers! Elementary Boys and Girls results: Junior girls results: Junior Boys results: Juniors - Combined: 4 km Senior Girls results: Senior Boys Results: Seniors - Combined: 5 km:
This was our first time racing up in Clearwater at the beautiful Candle Creek X-Country ski trails and recreational site. 48 runners raced 2 laps, over a diverse course of rocks, mud, turf, and single and double track; bringing the race to 4.5 km total distance. Thanks to the Clearwater crew for making this such a fantastic race - and especially thanks for the cow bell! We were also super blessed to have our friend Wayne Richardson on site, with his rocking tunes and colour commentary! JUNIOR GIRLS: JUNIOR BOYS: SENIOR GIRLS: SENIOR BOYS: OVERALL:
